PhotoOp Studios is the brainchild of three very different partners: Ruth Cherniak, Lucy Martin and Andrea Purcigliotti

Created by three women with years of trend setting experience behind them, PhotoOp is a marriage of local business and international style.

PhotoOp’s story begins at Out of the Closet Fabulous Vintage, a shop, in a Victorian House, in the center of Bridgehampton. In May 2006, Andrea met Ruth and Lucy and started to talk about the print and film business. “The Ladies” already knew their store was a well-kept secret among designers and stylists and wanted to embark on expanding their presence in the industry. They invited Andrea to visit their 4000 square foot warehouse and inventory showroom. The rest, as they say is history.

Ruth Chernac, a NYC and Sag Harbor resident, has been in the antiques and vintage costume business in the Hamptons for over 15 years. Her history in fashion is lifelong. As a model, Ruth was absorbed in fashion. She worked as a fashion designer, specializing in crochet garments. Later on, her work progressed to interior designer; so heavily inspired by fashion, it was her true culmination of style and design. She is a well-traveled, cultural anthropologist. Ruth has an important eye for trends, as she understands how quickly history repeats itself in fashion! Within her business at Out of the Closet Vintage, she is a master in the creation and restoration of vintage garments, accessories and jewelry.

Lucy Martin has been in the vintage clothing business for so long, there was no such wording as “vintage clothing” when she started. She owned a store in Woodstock, NY, for 10 years, and is one of the pioneers of the business. She maintains a massive inventory of vintage from two centuries, and is always on the look out for important pieces. Lucy has a keen eye for style and knows what great potential a garment or object may hold. She enjoys redesigning and refashioning vintage pieces into something extremely desirable. Ultimately, her true love and specialty is Victorian period garments. She holds a collection as large as the costume houses in NYC.

Andrea Purcigliotti is a production designer and scenery artist in the film and print industries. She is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 829. She owns a set design company, Damage Studios, in New York City. She has worked for most of the top production companies and entertainment networks, publications and has a high profile clientèle. At any given moment, her work can be seen on television or in print. She has a vast knowledge of the ins and outs of the entertainment industry’s vendors, employees and resources.

By merging their talents and creating a space that combined their three separate businesses into one, PhotoOp Studios is pleased to offer the industry: studio space, wardrobe & costume hire and props & set dressing rentals.
